Since his first time attending the Sunbelt Ag Expo in 1990, Ron Carroll has become a huge supporter of the Expo, its mission, and the role it plays in the community. In the past 32 years, Carroll has only missed 2 shows and taken on many active roles in our program as he celebrates his 14th year on the Expo Board.
After graduating high school, Carroll attended Middle Tennessee State University to pursue a B.A. in Finance. In May of 1989, he started his first job with Swisher International Inc. covering Southwest Georgia. In 1992, he was transferred and promoted to Regional Manager. From there, he was moved into a corporate office and in 1996 promoted to Marketing Promotions Manager. In 2000, Carroll was promoted to Director of Marketing. Then, in 2006, he was promoted to his current position of Vice President of Marketing. This year Carroll will be celebrating the 33rd year of his first job!
When asked about his hobbies, Mr. Carroll responded, “I love to travel, listen to live music, attend sports events, and golf.” When not at work, he can be found either on the golf course, the beach, or just spending time with friends and family.
He first started attending the Sunbelt Ag Expo in 1990 as he worked at the Swisher Booth during the show. Carroll says, “The Expo is important to me because of how long I have had the opportunity to be associated with the organization from an attendee to now a Board Member. Swisher’s involvement as a partner with the Sunbelt Ag Expo sponsoring the Swisher/Sunbelt Expo the Southeastern Farmer of the Year program has been one of the highlights of my career. All in all, Sunbelt Ag Expo is ‘North America’s Premier Farm Show’ showcasing the farming industry and new technologies that enhance the future of agriculture. I consider myself blessed to be associated with such a great organization.”
Carroll’s favorite part of the Expo is what the Farmer of the Year program means to him and so many others. He said, “This program has evolved into the most prestigious awards program recognized the agricultural industry and the outstanding people that make it what it is. It allows us to acknowledge the values, hard work, and determination, and ultimately the successes of the American Farmer.”
Join us again next month to learn more about our board members and what connects each of them to North America’s Premier Farm Show. They can’t wait to greet you in October!
