Throughout the entirety of the Expo, you’ll find exciting events at the Georgia EMC Booth. Since the 1960s, Georgia EMC has played an integral role in educating and informing Expo visitors on electrical safety. Restoring rural Georgia’s energy, EMCs across our state play a vital role in the agricultural industry and rural areas. You’ll find the EMC booth across from the family living center, beside the agribusiness buildings.
Each day, there are live high-voltage demonstrations at the booth. Visitors can stop by at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. to sit on the sidelines and watch demos. They can gain a small glimpse and appreciation into what the lineworkers did to restore power after Hurricane Helene, which was no easy task. The lineworkers will explain the importance of what can happen if you come in contact with the hotlines. You’ll also find out what can cause common power outages. Oscar, the life-sized robot, is back once again. You can find Oscar walking around talking to people about electricity. Try talking to him, and he might just answer you back!
The EMC booth is great for children, providing an opportunity for each child to become a “lineworker.” Dressing up in jackets and gloves, kids get to climb a power pole and restore their energy. They are able to see a small glimpse into a lineworker’s job and learn the importance of safe electrical practices. The hot air balloon, powered by Georgia EMC, is scheduled to fly over Expo at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day. Don’t forget to watch the sky to grab a cool photo.
Every day, there will be free popcorn and water, while supplies last. Stop by the booth to enjoy a shaded place to sit, eat some popcorn, and learn about Georgia’s rural energy cooperatives.
