The Sunbelt Expo is partnering with two long time grant supporters to continue cutting edge research on the Darrell Williams Research Farm.  A variable rate fertilizer spread, donated by Newton Crouch, will give us the ability to do our own precision spreading including variable rate technology.  Expo Farm Manager, Michael Chafin explains “fertilizer spreaders capable of variable rate application are increasingly important for enhancing nutrient management in because they improve placement and increase nutrient uptake efficiency. Matching applied fertilizer to fertilizer requirements represents a significant input cost saving for growers and a reduction in potential pollutant loading to ground and surface water.”  Ag Technologies/Trimble is the Official GPS provider of the Sunbelt Expo which provides their Field IQ software to control the spreader.
