While 2022 marks Jason Davison’s first year as a member of the Sunbelt Ag Expo board, this is far from his first encounter within the rural community.
Davison earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural education and communication emphasizing leadership development from the University of Florida. After he joined Florida Farm Bureau in 2012 as a District Field Representative serving the counties of Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lake, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Sumter. His promotion in 2016 led him to his present position as the Director of Field Services for the Florida Farm Bureau Federation. Davison leads the district Field Representatives, leadership programs, and membership efforts of the organization.
He first started attending the Sunbelt Ag Expo in the late 1980s on school trips as a member of his local FFA chapter. His favorite thing to see at the Expo is the new farm equipment and cattle handling accessories displays. He was introduced to the Farmer of the Year program early in his career with the Florida Farm Bureau, serving as Florida’s nominator in 2013 and 2014. In 2016, he was promoted to coordinate the Florida Farmer of the Year program. These experiences have strengthened his fondness for the Sunbelt Ag Expo and how it serves to educate everyone about what it takes to sustainably produce our nation’s food, fuel, and fiber.
When asked about his hobbies, Davison responded, “I enjoy spending time with his wife, Katie, on our family’s farm, where we have a small beef herd and hay operation.” They also enjoy traveling and supporting all Florida Gator athletics to victory in their spare time.
