The Expo hay field bustled with energy from cutting, tedding, raking, and forage sampling today.

Students, producers, and equipment dealers gathered to watch tractors, balers, and other equipment in action.

After the demos, attendees were invited into the field to get a closer look at the equipment and talk to dealers.

The events were directed by Lisa Baxter, Ph.D., an associate professor and state forage specialist at the UGA Tifton campus.

“We’ve got sun, we’ve got wind, we’ve got very few clouds out here,” Baxter said. “It’s the perfect day to make hay.”

These demonstrations allow farmers to make informed choices on equipment that they may want to purchase. Equipment dealers are also able to judge competitors’ equipment.
