Each year the farm crew for the Darrell Williams Research Farm at the Sunbelt Ag Expo works with university and company researchers and representatives to plan for the most efficient use of the land to carry out experiments necessary to continue advancing agricultural products.
The team is currently wrapping up plans in preparation for the 2022 season. This year, the research farm will grow:
- Hay – 89.36 acres
- Peanuts – 178.18 acres – April 28
- Corn – 97.22 acres
- Cotton – 160.92 acres – May 10
- Sorghum – 17.07 acres – April 26
Corn planting will begin March 23, and sorghum planting will begin April 26. Peanuts will go in the ground at the end of April.
