Carla Hornady has served as a board member for the Expo since 2017; however, her involvement in the agricultural community dates much further.

Carla Hornady is a native of Billingsley, Alabama, a small rural community in Autauga County, where she grew up on her family’s cattle farm. She was very active in FFA which led her to Auburn. In 1998, she graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business and Economics. After graduating, she worked at Cargill Cotton in Prattville, Alabama. In 2008, Carla began working at Alabama Farmers’ Federation. She was promoted in 2014 to her role as Director of the Cotton, Soybeans, and Wheat & Feed Grains Division for the Alabama Farmers Federation. She works with Row Crop Producers in Alabama to promote their industries and helps to surface and resolve issues and concerns that are brought forth by producers through the Federation’s commodity committee structure. In 2020, she was recognized by the Auburn University College of Agriculture’s Women in Agriculture as a Trailblazer – women leading the way in agriculture.

Carla now resides in Autauga County with her husband, Wesley, and children, Jackson, Caydin, and Caleb. When not working, she can be found spending time with her family, church youth group, local FFA chapter, or at her children’s sporting events!

Carla’s favorite part of the Expo is seeing the excitement on people’s faces. She said, “They may be just looking, making a purchase, or simply sharing farm stories, but people are enjoying their day!” Her Expo food of choice is ice cream and roasted corn. When asked why the Expo is so important to her, Carla replied, “It’s a place that brings ag together. You have ag industry, land grant universities, state farm bureaus, and small businesses all in one place.  People of all ages can enjoy a day or two at the Sunbelt Ag Expo.”

Join us again next month to learn more about our board members and what connects each of them to North America’s Premier Farm Show. They can’t wait to greet you in October!
