Monroe County resident, Clay Talton, has been serving on the Expo Board since 2018, but he has been involved in the agricultural world much longer than that.

Originally from Kathleen, Georgia, Talton graduated from Perry High School before attending the University of Georgia. In 2003, he earned a B.S.A. in Animal and Dairy Sciences with a minor in Ag Business. He later graduated from the University of Georgia with an M.S. in Animal Sciences. After college, Talton went to work for the Georgia Beef Board between 2006 and 2007. In 2007, he began a new position as an ANR Agent at the UGA Extension Office in Elbert County, where he worked until 2014. Talton then joined the Georgia Farm Bureau team and is currently serving as the Director of Field Services.

As husband to Brittany and father to Lola, Cohen, and Nora, Mr. Talton can often be found in the barn with his family or at livestock shows with them on the weekend. His hobbies include helping his children with their livestock projects, being outdoors, and hunting.

Clay’s favorite thing to do at the Expo is to watch the various Field Demos that are conducted throughout the duration of the show. His Expo food of choice is the barbeque sandwich from the County Agents booth. When asked about why the Expo is important to him, Talton responded, “As technology progresses and becomes a vital part of agriculture operations, it is important that we offer the best educational resources and exhibits as farmers seek knowledge to make informed decisions and our youth seek exposure to agriculture industry opportunities. Seminars, farm demonstrations, and youth educational challenges are what sets the Expo apart from others, and it is important that we continue to build and expand on those opportunities.

Join us again next month to learn more about our board members and what connects each of them to North America’s Premier Farm Show. They can’t wait to greet you in October!
