What’s your favorite way to enjoy a delicious peanut butter snack? Do you prefer to eat it as a dip with fruit? Or as a tasty addition to your sandwich? Whether you like it chunky or smooth, make sure you celebrate National Peanut Butter Day today with your favorite peanut butter snack!

No matter what you prefer, they all have one thing in common… the peanut. Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Virginia, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Mississippi are some of the top-producing peanut states in the country. These ten states produce 99% of the country’s peanut crop, with Georgia producing 42%.

Georgia leads the way in peanut production due to its sandy soil and subtropical climate. Most of Georgia’s peanut production is focused in the Coastal Plain region of the state. Here at the Sunbelt Ag Expo, we not only celebrate peanuts during the show but year-round as researchers continue to find the best practices for growing this top commodity.

When October comes around, be sure to stop by the Georgia Peanut Commission’s building to learn more about peanuts and enjoy their famous grilled peanut butter sandwich and fried peanuts. Don’t forget to have a peanut butter treat today to hold you over until October!
